Welcome to North Lanarkshire

It’s always been important to be able to enjoy the great outdoors, and our communities have valued our parks more than ever over the last few difficult years. Evidence shows that being out in the fresh air in a park or the countryside has many benefits for our wellbeing, and in North Lanarkshire there is plenty of greenspace on our doorstep. The council recognise the social, economic and environmental benefits parks deliver and have ambitious plans over the next decade to create Country Parks for the Future. The program was developed after consultation with communities and partners in 2019 and will create new opportunities for play, exercise and wildlife conservation offering benefits to residents through improved physical and mental health, opportunities for learning about local wildlife and heritage, and encouraging active travel. As part of these plans Strathclyde Country Park will become an Art Park, with creative interventions forming part of every project which takes place to revitalise the site. The proposed Covid Memorial created through the Remembering Together project will become a key feature in the Art Park and we look forward to welcoming visitors to reflect, remember and come together as caring communities.

North Lanarkshire Council will be the main contact for Remembering Together in the area and more information can be found HERE
