Meet the Artists: ice cream architecture

Remembering Together: North Ayrshire have appointed their artist to co-create memorials with communities. Meet icecream architecture.

We work with communities and the public sector to make places and services better.

Out multi-disciplinary team can create reactive solutions that boost regeneration, enterprise, community involvement and collaboration, communication, youth engagement, active travel, funding potential and digital participation; each with the core aim to motivate and mobilise civic pride.

Icecream architecture has developed through its rapport between community groups, artists and Local Authorities. There has emerged a substantial track record for integrating these groups throughout the delivery process and producing carefully considered and initiated proposals, strategies and artworks.

We are excited and impressed by the co-design process laid out for this project as we see true merit in building the brief for such a worthy project within the community in advance of laying down parameters for its delivery. The key objective of phase 1 is to connect with the community; to platform their stories, feelings and memories, and identify a clear understanding of the term ‘reflection’, which can be developed in phase 2. We see phase 1 as a crucial journey for establishing a detailed community-led brief to be taken forward. Our approach will be to first hear from the community about their experience throughout the pandemic, creating curious instances for them to open up and collaboratively discuss their thoughts with others. Each conversation will focus our plan and engagement methods to continuously iterate a detailed brief for Phase 2.
