Meet the Designers: Around Zero

Remembering Together: Dundee have appointed their artists to co-create memorials with communities. Meet Ana Guerrero and Vinishree Verma (Around Zero).

Around Zero is a Social Innovation and Environment centred design firm building a positive future for the people and the planet. Using design innovation methodologies to develop planet-centric strategies to improve human and non-human species relationships.

The team behind this initiative is driven by their passion for working in social innovation and environmental impact and making a difference through design.

Ana and Vinishree say:

“The pandemic has impacted the people of Dundee beyond health and has stirred all aspects of individual lives, communities and the built and natural environment. The negative impacts can be seen in all age groups, genders, and races. Moreover, it has deepened the pre-existing inequalities harshly affecting those already marginalised and excluded due to their economic status, disability, ethnicity, or even opinions. There has been another side to this story as well - people have shown resilience to rise to the challenge and trigger positivity through their actions and their goodwill.

 We aim to capture these positive and negative impacts by working collaboratively with diverse communities with different lived experiences. We will encourage people to reflect on these past two years through the co-design process and using design tools. We aim to arrive at a healing path, reflecting and remembering collectively. 

This is a creative way of echoing the lived experiences of the people of Dundee, their turmoil and resilience, and together build something that heals and revives their spirit.”
